PROPOSAL OF THE COURSE

Purpose:
 •
To provide theoretical knowledge of basics of physiological optics and optical aberrations, as well as a fundamental knowledge of laser physics and laser-tissue interaction;
 • To give an overview of various refractive procedures, narrowing down the choices towards excimer laser modalities for optimal long term optical and physiological outcomes;
 • To emphasize clinical significance and need for advanced diagnostic and therapeutic procedures;
 • To ensure sufficient practical skills, with personalised tips and tricks ranging from measuring and interpreting the findings of auto-refractor, aberrometry and topography in pre-operative patient assessment, to making the correct decision regarding the appropriate treatment modality;
 • To introduce the statistical outcome analysis as a mean of self assessment and continuous improvement; and finally,
 • To provide an extensive practical aspect of refractive surgery through wet-labs, participation in pre- and post-op patient evaluation, as well as live surgeries.
Goal:

To initiate an aware, competent and critical refractive surgeon whose dedication is to provide the best technological and surgical skills, as well as to invest in vision quality of even the most challenging patients.
Format:
  Three days, two blocks daily
